Responding to a confession made by her correspondent and describing the circumstances of her own life and her spiritual awakening: she left the convent to marry Grimod de Beaumont; the unhappy marriage was annulled; she moved to London and became a governess, leaving her own daughter in a nunnery; she then went on to write an anthology and moralistic short stories for her charges.
